I Am In This World

but I keep slipping out

and falling back in

and the darkness

and the light

are like magic

in my life

making me feel

so vulnerable

and so invincible

at the same time

and I am full of gratitude

and despair

happiness and pain

though sometimes

I simply don’t know

what to do

I have absolutely

no clue

and I cry help help

I’m feeling so blue.

The Birds Make Music

up to the sky

and the silence

of the mountains

is beautiful

and people here

are fun

the children talking

as they play

and there is that calm

that makes me

drown in the greenery

and turn to air

and light

in this blue firmament

vast and also white.

I Am Water

beautiful flowers

grow

and children

in boats row

I am cool and dark

I reflect the trees

and I am light

as I reflect the sky

and down

I am deep

and I feel

such solace

I am magic

and here above

I become

the laughter

of the kids

and transcend

myself in joy

and merge

with the cosmos

in flowing

ecstasy.

I Feel Happy Here In Kumily

this afternoon

two little girls

talk nearby

and I think of the

golden forest

beyond

how the tigers

run and catch

their prey

and eat them

how the fish

swim in the

green Periyar river

and the leaves

of the trees

how they

make love

to each other

with that enchanted

sound of deep delight

as the wind blows

through them

and I think

of how wonderful

it makes me feel

to just think of it

and how ecstatic

it must be for them

when suddenly

there is a

breeze blowing here

in my courtyard

and I can hear

the leaves

of my coconut trees

say laughing

yes Dominic

you are right

it makes us feel

so light

telling us life

is burning bright.

The Blowing Wind

hello it says

taking me

in its arms

all the way

to the sky

and I cry

in ecstasy

I feel one

with the universe

and this breeze

has made me

so cool

the cosmos

starts to make

love to me

and our minds

flow in shuddering

delight

as we hold

each other tight

and become

so light

we disappear

in good cheer.

This Day Is So Light

I float in the air

and below me

the children play

and people talk

I see the trees

waving to me

and the mountains

smiling

and I shout out

hello to them

and the wind

begins to sing

and I sway

through the breeze

pulsating with song

and it is the voice

of everyone

in the universe

and it is so beautiful

I feel the cosmos

embrace me

and we weep

tears of joy.

Peace Flows Through The Leaves

like the wind

the sky

is a big blue ocean

caressing our bodies

making us light like air

and the world takes us

for a spin

and we howl in happiness

how the Earth dances

our mother

how she feeds us

till we jump in joy

and now suddenly

the birds appear

out of nowhere

until we recognise them

as brothers and sisters

and kiss each other

and slowly as we grow old

with open heart

we come to rest

in our planet

our mama’s bosom

and breathe our last

in love.
